Dutch government want to financially support the build of a "irrigation water factory" in the municipality of Westland with 700.000 euro's. The waste water and drainage water from the horticulture in the municipality of Westland will be reused as irrigation water for the horticulture. This project provides a new source of irrigation water for horticultural farmers and is a great opportunity to counteract further salination of ground- and surface water from the municipality of Westland. With this project approximately 150 horticultural farmers are involved within an area of over 150 hectares near 's-Gravenzande.
The build of this factory and it's exploitation costs approximately 23 million euro's. The subsidy is granted under condition that the total budget will be closed. Local goverments are asked to contribute 700.000 euro's each.
